Stitch TLC Workshop with Yemii Haastrup

When: Sunday 14 July 2024

Time: 2-3:30pm

Where: Hastings Museum and Art Gallery, Bohemia Road, TN34 1ET

Free, booking essential as limited capacity

Join us for a stitching workshop led by the talented textile artist Yemii Haastrup, centered around the theme of Black Joy.

The workshop will be centred around a powerful African symbol: the Sankofa bird. These birds are from the Ghanian region of Akan and are typically depicted as an image of a mythical bird with its face turned backwards and an egg in its mouth. The word means “going back to get something”. It is about looking back and getting the positive things from the past to take with you on your journey forwards. This message will resonate through the stitching works produced.

Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced stitcher, this workshop is designed for everyone to enjoy. Come share the joy of stitching with others. All materials will be provided.
